ABOUT

Toby Kearton is a graduate of the New York Film Academy, Los Angeles. His films focus on moral dilemmas and ethical choices in wartime and crisis situations.

His short form work has screened worldwide, with selections at BAFTA and BIFA qualifying festivals. He first gained attention with his breakout film Dissonance, which premiered at the Court Métrage at the 71st Cannes Film Festival.

He is known for his unique take on historical dramas with Kamerad, set in no man's land during the First World War, The Little Picture, set in occupied France during World War Two, and The Dust Child, set against the backdrop of the Vietnam War. Kearton has expressed interest in furthering his exploration of anti-war themes in a future feature-length production.

Toby has displayed his versatility with character-centric stories on meaningful topics, including the veteran mental health PSA Hidden Wounds and Pricks, exploring what it means to live with Type 1 Diabetes. He wrote and directed the pilot of Livin' with the Devil, now available on demand.

Mentored by Azhur Saleem through the Directors UK Inspire Mentorship Scheme, Toby went on to shadow direct Series 2 of ITV's After the Flood.

His feature-length directorial debut, Sweet Nothings, is currently in post-production. The drama, romance and mystery is set for release in 2027.
